Fire pit Rules & Permits

Tweets by SDWildlandFire
NOTE:  Everyone within Deer Mountain is required to have a burn permit if you wish to burn slash piles or for a wood burning firepit.

Black Hills Fire Restrictions-Check this before starting any fire (permit required)
  • Do not burn when there are county fire restrictions or a county burn ban in affect.
  • Do not burn when a high wind advisory, high wind warning, fire weather watch, or red flag warning are forecasted or in affect. To check for possible advisories, watches, or warnings in your area, visit weather.gov/unr/.
  • Keep surrounding area maintained and free of any vegetation.
  • Make sure the fire is completely out and the ashes are cold to the touch before leaving.
  • Permit is NOT VALID if any of the restrictions listed above are in place or if the guidelines/standards are not being followed.

SDDA Launches New State Burn Permit System

RAPID CITY S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Agriculture’s Wildland Fire Division has launched a new and improved burn permit website that is more user friendly. The new site will require all users to have a valid email address and register as a new user. The new site can be found at https://apps.sd.gov/AG73BurnPermit/Windows/Login.aspx or by going to the South Dakota Wildland Fire webpage, https://wildlandfire.sd.gov/,
and clicking on the link in the Quick Links box.
