Summer is off to an overwhelming start in the Black Hills and we are forced to send a reminder that the Deer Mountain Subdivision properties is a private residential neighborhood. Quiet hours are from 9PM-9AM and will be enforced. We’ve already had to call the Sheriff with complaints of overpacked rental homes with parties going on all night. One rental home even has a portable-potty on their front lawn. This is unacceptable and will be addressed by the Sanitary District. In addition, we’ve had to call the Sheriff on illegal fire pits on rental properties. You must have a permit from the state and abide by the laws and follow the fire danger from the Wildland Fire website. https://wildlandfire.sd.gov. No fires are allowed if the danger is above Moderate and winds above 5mph. You could be held legally responsible for damage caused by a wild fire. This is for today so no fires allowed by anyone. HIGH #FireDanger in the Black Hills Areas of Lawrence, Pennington and Meade Counties. And this should be common sense, but as we approach the 4th of July, FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL in all of the Black Hills Forest Protection District. Please remind your renters of the state laws. Please print the attached brochure and post in all rental properties. We will also be mailing a hard copy in the near future. We need everyone to work together to keep our community safe and enjoyable for all. Shari Kosel Secretary/Clerk [email protected] Update: Power was restored around 1:30AM.
At approximately 7:00 p.m. a fire was reported at Whitetail Drive and Birch Road due to a tree falling on the power lines. After speaking with the Lead Fire Department and monitoring the Sheriff’s dispatch, the fire was contained at approximately 8:45 p.m. and power was cut. The power company is still en route and we have no information concerning the length of any outage. Print and post in your rental cabins. Reminder: You are REQUIRED to have a state fire permit in order to have a wood burning fire pit. Refer to our webpage for more info and contact information.
